Who we are
Saffron Young People's Project (SYPP) is a voluntary, not-for-profit detached youth work organisation which works on the streets and open spaces of the Saffron Lane Estate in Leicester.
How we work
We are young person led and our strength is our ability to respond to the needs of young people as they arise.
We work outside where young people like to meet, and chat to anyone who wishes to, about any issues or topics that they feel are of interest to them.
We listen to young people in a non-judgemental manner, in their environment, to their rules, in total confidence.
What we do
Our small but dedicated team provide help and advice on the a range of issues, including family, drugs, bullying, alcohol, school, smoking, friends, activities, mental health and wellbeing, sexual health and relationships.
We also provide street sessions, information on what's going on in the area and citywide, opportunities to visit other centres, project work and activities.
We provide a confidential sexual health clinic every day in partnership with the NHS to reduce sexually transmitted diseases, help prevent pregnancies and free pregnancy testing.
We run weekly activities that include sports sessions for boys and girls along with a dedicated young-person led girls-only project.
